In Patagonia

For the past 10 years, the Foundation has underwritten Argentine biologist Guillermo (Graham) Harris' life work to protect the extraordinary wildlife assemblages that grace the coast and steppes of Patagonia.
As a scientist with the Wildlife Conservation Society, a founder of Fundación Patagonia Natural, and implementer of Argentina's Patagonia Coastal Zone Management Plan, Harris coordinates a comprehensive suite of research, education, and training programs.
After reviewing a recent report on his efforts, Harris felt compelled to put back "things that have been left out ... the perfect pleasure produced by the delicate beauty of a pink raft of flamingos... the exaltation of the heart at the sight of penguins crowding a lonely shore... the exhilaration of the spirit at witnessing a mass of albatrosses on an isolated South Atlantic island." Harris was speaking of much more than just his efforts and those of his colleagues when he added, "It is the wildlife that makes it worthwhile."
